Comments: I happened to come across this website searching for information on the correlation between lung cancer and firefighters. Last September, my grandfather, was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was a firefighter for nearly 40 years and even till the day he passed dedicated his life to the fire department and the safety of firefighters. This past August, he passed away because of this terrible disease. He was a very loved man and I miss him dearly. I just wanted to say thank you for all that you are doing to put a stop to cancer. I hope no one else has to go through the pain of watching someone they love lose their battle and I definitely hope no one ever has to go through the fight. Please never give up on a search for the cure and thank you again.

Comments: What a great organization -- I just happened to come across it while searching for professional fire depts in New England. Very impressive, keep up the great work. The general public has no idea what firefighters go through at work and then fighting their own battles with various cancers -- a lot of them caused by exposure to things we can't even pronounce!!!!

He fought his battle for almost 3 years, during his fight he got married and was an influence to others with cancer and other disabilities to fight and continue with life. I'm very glad that there is an organization like this to fight this dreaded disease.

Comments: I am very glad I learned of this effort to provide information and funding for firefighters and others to fight cancer which especially effects firefighters. I hope more people become familiar with this effort. I thank Bill Newland, Present / Chairman, of The Retired Professional Firefighters Cancer Fund, Inc. for explaining all of the positive activities underway for this fight against cancer. The Web site itself is very well done. I plan to make a donation to the Fund. This effort will help all of us and our love ones who are or will struggle with this dreaded disease. Thank you.

Comments: The Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation www.FFCancer.org is proud to support and partner with your worthwhile organization. Fire fighters are most proficient at taking care of our own, but we can't do it alone. As we continue to face the building cancer trends within our occupation and families, it is imperative that we work together to find better ways to face cancer head on. This means education, awareness, documentation (tracking), and research will play key roles in our survival. Your group has chosen an important area of focus in which the fire service has experienced deficiency. Our thanks to you and we look forward to making great strides together!

Comments: Great job! I am so proud to be a part of The Retired Professional Firefighters Cancer Fund Inc. Other than my being a priest, I am most honored to be associated as Chaplain to Binghamton Fire Department and connected in so many ways with firefighters, who I admire. I believe that anything we can do to alleviate their pain which they have because of service to us, is a most worthy cause. It will be my daily prayer that our efforts will be richly rewarded. Let's get to work!

Comments: It is indeed an honor and pleasure to be affiliated with The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund, Inc. The mission and goals established are worthy of everyone’s consideration, as cancer is a deadly and debilitating disease that affects all colors and origins and does not discriminate between young or old, male or female, rich or poor. As a career professional firefighter with more than 30 years of public fire service, I have unfortunately witnessed first-hand the pain, suffering and death of too many friends and colleagues to this terrible disease. I have watched once strong and physically fit brother and sister firefighters succumb to the omen we all know and dread as cancer. Some have endured their physical and mental anguish for years, while others were taken from us with incredible speed. In every single case, there were loving family members and friends left behind to mourn, wonder and ask….”Why?” Whether or not you personally have been touched by the horrors of cancer (yourself, a family member or friend), please make your tax-deductible contribution to The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund, Inc. or assist us in setting up various fundraising activities to aid in funding future cancer research. Help us to “protect the protectors”. The life you save may be your own!
