A MESSAGE FROM THE FUND’S CHAIRMAN

Cancer adversely affects the lives of many people including firefighters. Most individuals know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. I have experienced the loss of family, friends, and fellow firefighters to the disease. It is the opinion of experts in the field that unless more is done with respect to cancer research, the trend of losing family, friends, and Brother and Sister Fire Fighters will only continue.

Professional Fire Fighter union lobbyists in over thirty states and five Canadian provinces have been successful in obtaining presumptive cancer legislation. Presumptive cancer legislation is a monumental step, but curing cancer is the ultimate goal. With this goal in mind, I created The Retired Professional Fire Fighters Cancer Fund Inc., to raise funding for research for the specific cancers which effect not only Fire Fighters but all of mankind.

Through your generosity and support we can make a significant difference by supporting research programs which will develop earlier disease detection, more successful treatment programs, and eventually a cure for all forms of cancer. As a retired career Professional Fire Fighter and former Union President, I know that Professional Fire Fighters have a long history of caring, giving, and conducting successful fund raisers for a number of deserving causes. I ask that you consider supporting this deserving cause. I encourage everyone to consider a personal contribution to the fund. I ask that you remember us when designating memorial contributions and bequeaths in honor and memory of a loved one. Please join me in the quest to eradicate cancer. Tax deductable contributions can be made at our secure on line credit card site or you can mail your check payable to "The Retired Professional Firefighters Cancer Fund Inc." 4 Loretta Drive Binghamton, New York   13905.

Sincerely & Fraternally

Bill Newland, Chairman
Retired I.A.F.F. Local # 729
